Dhahran Housing

Housing styles are one thing I have been ask a lot about.  Here is what I have put together.  The modular's are all in main camp the townhomes and adobe's are in the hills.  Bachelor housing sprinkled throughout.  To see the furniture supplied on arrival look at the following post.  Arrival Furniture

Town homes

This is the larger 3 bedroom townhome.  They all come with an office upstairs that could also be used as a bedroom if needed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These two show the smaller 3 bedroom town home.  It is almost identical to the larger just the a few differences like the dinning room is not as small.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the two bedroom town home.  It is for people without kids or with only one kid.

  1. Thank you so much! I can't tell you how much this eases my mind. ...Not to mention my mother's. I think she thinks I'm going to end up in a cement hole in the middle of the desert. LOL

  2. This is a very helpful post; we are assigned an Adobe when we come over in the next few months - maybe this one? - and the homes look about as we expected. I had received a floor plan, but some measurements are difficult to figure out, and I have a question. We have a hall tree bench I would like to bring if it fits inside the front door along the wall where the stairs are. I am not sure if you have the time or can get back in the one above with a tape measure. The piece is almost 19" deep, 48" wide and 77" tall in the back. My other comments seem to have been deleted. Could you perhaps email me?

  3. Payingattention- I haven't seen any other comments from you. Sorry they haven't come through. If you send me another comment with your email I will correspond with you that way and not publish your email on here.

I am not in an adobe but will try to see on the measurements for you. I would bring the bench because if it doesn't fit right by the door it would fit on the wall by the dinning room. I have seen several on walls there.

  4. Could you tell me what the gym is like-is it like a "US workout gym?

    ReplyDelete
  5. What is a grade 15 mean as an employee grade-is that good or medium level?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yes the gyms are like a U.S. Workout Gym. There are ex erode machines like stair masters, lipitcals, bikes, treadmills, rowers etc. They also have free weight machines and all other weight machines.

  7. A grade 15 is great!!! Most expats come in at 12-14 grade levels. A 15 is a senior level grade.

  8. Do you know if the housing is the same in Ras Tanura? We are GC15 with 1 child.

  9. Yes housing is the same in Dhahran as in Ras Tanura.

  10. This site is very helpful! So if we are in senior level housing-above grade 16, (couple with grown children) in Dhaharan (not Hills) we would probably have modular style home rather than adobe? I believe we were given a 2BR. Thanks for your help and look forward to meeting you in June 2012.

  11. Adobes are not in main camp but I don't know of any modular's that are only two bedroom. Most likely you would be in a townhome style home or one of the free standing homes that are two bedrooms. Send me your email in another comment (will not publish) and I can send you some pictures of what I know are two bedrooms on main camp. How do you know you are not in the hills?

  13. hi there,
thanks a lot for sharing these pictures. i have few more questions to ask regarding the compound.
Do you think that UDH would be having the same sort of housing?
do you know anyone from UDH compound so that i can ask questions or an email?
i would apprecite this favor :)

    ReplyDelete
  14. I believe that housing in UDH would be the same as Dhahran other than no modulars. I am basing that on the fact that RT's housing is like Dhahran. I don't know anyone in UDH but can ask around. I know several that use to live in UDH and are now in Dhahran. I don't publish emails on here so please send me your so that I get back to you that way. Also you might throw a post out on Aramcoexpats forum asking for someone to respond from UDH.

  15. Hello, Thank you for such a helpful site. Our family is currently waiting our visas. We have been told that we will have a 4 bedroom home. Do you know if that is a 3 bedroom with the den turned into a bedroom? We have 4 children. Thank you for your help!

    1. Sorry but no one will be able to tell you that. It is all based upon what is available at the time you are due to arrive. Where are y'all coming from? Feel free to send me your email address if you have other questions I might be able to answer. Won't publish that. Best of Luck on the big move!

    1. That is too generic. What grade level are you? Are you coming on family status, single, bachelor, where from? Send me an email address. Will not publish. Don't care to do this over an open page.

  18. So..I was reading that GC12 + is 'normal' rating for entry? How bad is single female GC10? what does that equate to, regarding housing?
    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. GC 11+ is what most facilities on camp are. As a single female are you coming as a teacher? If so you will have access to all facilities. I am not sure what your housing assingment would be. Sorry.

      Delete
  19. I have just been offered a Grade 11 contract as an Advanced ICT Trainer. Is this normal entry rating? I am down under single status. Could I request a multi-entry visa? how easy are these to obtain.
    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Congrats!! I have no idea on if that is normal. Sorry. 11+ will get you into all facilities on camp. You will be issued a one year multi entry visa after arrival. It will be renewed each year. They will help you get that done. It is all done on camp.

    2. I have also been offered a Grade 11 contract as an Advanced ICT trainer with Aramco through Al Falak. Would I be able to get a place on the camp and a one year multi entry visa as above?

Thanks for your blog by the way!!

      Delete
    3. If you are working with Al Falak you will not be on camp. Contractors do not live on camp. They have arrangements in Al-Khobar. Sorry! I am assuming that the multi entry is the same but I do not know. Your relocation adviser should be able to tell you.

  20. Thank you so much for this wonderful blog. It's been very informative. My husband has been offered a job at Aramco in the IT department - GC12. Would you happen to know how the working environment is in the IT department? Any information will be greatly appreciated. We have so many doubts about the move since we have heard stories of people being placed in the wrong department and ended up being terminated in the end. My husband is very happy with his job at the moment although he hates his commute and of course the fact that we are taxed to high heavens make the Aramco offer so much more appealing. Again, thank you so much!

  21. How is the abqaiq senior housing community, is it the same as Dharan? And please if you can tell me what type of family accommodation shall be provided in case of Grade Code 11?? Is it a 2BHK / 3 BHK?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I have not been to abqaiq so I can't say. I believe it is the same as Dhahran based on conversations with friends. Grade code is a mute point in housing. It depends on how many members of your family are coming. Since you say senior housing I am guessing there is just two of you which will put you in a 2 bedroom.

  22. Nice Post its look that you have design the senior housing design. It seems to be great and appreciable work done by you. Thanks for sharing with us.

Could you please give me an idea about the working environment and the distance between the office and Abqaiq housing. Is there any bus service for this ??

  25. I just arrived in Dammam tonight, working as a contractor with Aramco. I've heard that contractors can sometimes sublet from Aramcons who have decided to live in Bahrain. Any experience with this? Is this completely forbidden?
    Thanks!

    1. I don't know anything about this. I do not believe it is possible. Those that live in Bahrain are not given housing on camp. If housing found out both parties would be in trouble I would assume.

  29. Hello, I received and offer to work in Dhahran as IT Specialist , I have no idea what Grade I'm offered as they just asked me what salary I'm expecting and that is acceptable by them. I should ask the company to tell me the grade or someone here can tell me. Also I wanted to know what are the chances my wife to get a Job there as financial analyst? Actually she wants to know if as a women she can work there?

    1. When you get your paper offer it will state what grade it is. You should be able to ask your relocation supervisor what grade. Where are you coming from? Your wife will NOT work. There is a very small chance after numerous years of being here she will be hired but it is very slim. The government doesn't hand out work visas to women who are casuals. If you would like correspond via email send it to me. I will not publish that comment. Best of Luck!

I'm from Macedonia but currently living in Romania. And I was discussing with my wife if is better to stay here or to come with me, but she is not that type to stay without job :) .
Next week I should receive the paper offer and I will tell you about the grade and what accommodation to expect.

  30. Hi, great blog!
I was wondering if you can tell me if there is much in the way of gardens/yard space at the Dhahran camp 3 bed houses/adobes? I dont know whether to bother bringing my garden play stuff for the kids and outdoor setting?
    Many thanks

    1. The yards are not huge in the adobes. I would bring it and you can always sell it if needed. May I ask how you know what house type you will be in? Most don't have a clue prior to coming and housing isn't normally even assigned until you have actually left other than to tell you which camp. You are at a huge advantage knowing you will be in an adobe. Congrats!!!

  31. Hi,
I'm interviewing as a single female teacher this weekend. I grew up an Aramcon Brat, but am concerned about potential housing. Do you have any idea what GC US teachers come in at in general. Can I negotiate my GC? I have such fond memories, however I would be going back in a different context. Are teachers at the bottom of the food chain in terms of housing and bidding and such. Any information would be welcome... Just to help me form my thinking as I head to Houston. Thank you!

I'm hoping that someone can help by answering my question? I will be relocating to Dhahran camp to a 3bdr home and was wondering if these homes are equipped with washer/dryer and dishwasher or these homes items are needed to be purchased?

    1. The washer/dryer can be rented. The dishwasher comes with the house.

    - Is there any wait for getting housing in Dhahran Aramco compound.
